Comments: CAL FIRE/Riverside County firefighters are on scene of palm trees on fire in the hills SW of Bob Hope and Hwy 111, City of Rancho Mirage. Fire is in a remote area accessible by foot or helicopter. Fire crews at scene reported 15 palms trees involved. The fire is not spreading and is not a threat to any homes. Fire crews from CAL FIRE conservation camp will be flown in by CAL FIRE helicopter 301 to assist the local firefighters currently at scene suppressing the fire. Firefighters will remain on scene for several hours patrolling and mopping up the fire. Updates will be posted as information is released. People that live in the area and access the hiking trails near the fire are to stay clear of this area while firefighters continue to work the fire. Update 6:03pm Fire is contained fire crews will be leaving the area shortly.
Problems: remote area limited access on foot. No access for ground fire equipment.
