UPDATE 10:35 AM - The fire was contained to 4 acres at approximately 10:32 am. Firefighters will remain on scene of two hours for overhaul.
UPDATE: 9:59 AM - The fire in the Whitewater storm drain river bottom is currently 4 acres of medium to heavy fuels. Updates will be posted as information becomes available.
CAL FIRE/Riverside County firefighters are on scene of a vegetation fire in the riverbottom. First arriving engine company reported a quarter acre fire in 10-12 foot vegetation with a moderate rate of spread. Negative structure threat. Current weather: 75 degrees, 17 mph winds NNW and 38% humidity. |
