Update 4:53 p.m. - The cause of the fire was determined by CAL FIRE Investigators to be from faulty equipment within a wind turbine.
Update 10:00 a.m. - Fire contained and controlled to 9 acres. Incident terminated.
Update 8:20 a.m. - The forward rate of spread has stopped. Firefighters will be committed for two-three hours for mop up.
Update 6:57 a.m. - The fire is holding at 9 acres.
CAL FIRE/Riverside County Firefighters are on scene of a wildland fire near Whitewater Canyon. The fire is approximately 9 acres in size, burning in medium fuels at a slow rate agains 20 mph winds. Np structure threatened, no evacuations. Updates will be posted as information becomes avaialble. |
