Current Situation: Update and Correction 9:21 a.m. - The fire was controlled at approximately 8:30 a.m. Of the 20 units (Hacienda Apts), 16 were saved (two sustained minor water and smoke damage) and four (4) were completely destroyed. 25 residents are currently displaced - 10 of which are temporary due to the power outage. The remaining 15 displaced are being assisted by the American Red Cross. Update 6:21 a.m. - One firefighter will be transported to an area hospital via ground ambulance with minor injuries sustained in the overhaul process. Update 5:35 a.m. - Per the Incident Commander, there were a total of two patients transported to an area hospital via ground ambulance - one burn victim with second to third degree burns on 30% of the body and the other who was transported due to smoke inhalation. Four of the 20 units were completely destroyed. Two units have moderate smoke and water damage and the remaining 14 units are undamaged due to quick and aggressive firefighter action. Riverside County Office of Emergency Services and the American Red Cross were requested to assess damage and assist with displaced residents. No reported injuries to firefighters. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Update and Correction 4:31 a.m. - Per the Incident Commander, the fire was contained at approximately 4:26 a.m. Four units of the 20-unit apartment complex were damaged with heavy fire. Updates will be posted as information becomes available. Update 3:08 a.m. - Per the Incident Commander, the apartment complex, comprised of approximately 34 units, is 1/3 involved with fire. One burn victim was transported to an area trauma facility via ground ambulance. Severity of injuries unknown at this time. Firefighters will be committed to the scene for approximately four hours. Updates will be posted as information becomes available. Update 2:25 a.m. - Per the Incident Commander, there are three units with possible exposures. Updates will be posted as information becomes available. CAL FIRE/Riverside County firefighters responded to a residential structure fire. First arriving engine company reported smoke showing from a multi-family apartment complex building.
