Current Situation: Final : 6:15 p.m. A total of 39 residents displaced (32 adults and 7 children). There was no need by families for the shelter and it has since been closed. Displaced residents have made other arrangements for lodging with family and friends. Update 4:20 A total of 33 residents have been displaced. The American Red Cross has opened up a shelter at the Moreno Valley High School Gymnasium, located at 23300 Cottonwood Avenue in Moreno Valley. Two civilians are being evaluated by paramedics for difficulty breathing. Update 2:15 p.m. One firefighter is being transported to an area hospital for evaluation and treatment of minor injuries. Update 1:30 p.m.: Fire contained at 12:15 p.m. A 12-unit building in a multi-unit apartment complex has been red-tagged. 11 of the 12 units were occupied. Approximately 65 displaced residents will be assisted by the American Red Cross. Quick action by firefighters held the fire to one building and kept it from spreading to adjacent buildings. No injuries reported. CAL FIRE Investigators are at the scene working to determine the cause. Firefighters will remain at the scene several hours for overhaul. Report on conditions: 3-story, 12-unit apartment building with the attic space fully involved. 60 firefighters on scene. No injuries reported. Updates will be posted as information becomes available. Update 11:10 a.m.: The Incident Commander requested a 3rd alarm response. Updates will be posted as information becomes available. Riverside City Fire also assisting. CAL FIRE/Riverside County Firefighters are on scene of a structure fire at the Stone Gate Apartments in Moreno Valley. Updates will be posted as information becomes available.
