Defensible Space Project Soon to Be Underway in Pine Cove |

The Pine Cove Northwest Fuels Reduction Project has been awarded to Sullivan Logging Inc., of Idyllwild, by the County of Riverside. The project area covers 44 acres of private land in the northwestern portion of Pine Cove. The purpose of the Fuel Reduction Project is to mitigate a serious fire hazard and improve the defensible space around the community of Pine Cove. The project will consist of removing standing dead and dying trees, and also removing piles of fuel on the ground.
The project is being funded by the County of Riverside with grant funds provided by the Natural Resource Conservation Service¿s Emergency Watershed Protection Program. The project is tentatively set to start on July 10th, and is expected to be completed by mid-September.
