ARSON CONVICTION in Banning Fire |

On Sunday, April 22, 2012, CAL FIRE/Riverside County Fire Department responded to a fire in the 600 block of East Ramsey in the City of Banning.
CAL FIRE/Riverside County Fire Investigators discovered furnishings and household items had been removed from an apartment unit and set on fire in the courtyard. Investigators identified an origin and cause and interviewed a suspect who had been detained by the Banning Police Department. As a result of the investigation, Jaime Vazquez, a transient, was arrested by CAL FIRE Peace Officers and charged with burglary, arson to property, and trespassing.
On Tuesday, May 8, 2012, Jaime Vazquez pled guilty to burglary, arson to property, and a probation violation. Jaime was sentenced to nine months in county jail, three years of probation, issued a strike under the ¿3 Strikes Rule¿, and will be required to register as an arsonist under Penal Code Section 457.1.
